Cam Newton reveals complete story behind heckling fan (Video)

Cam Newton posted a video of his interaction with a young heckler at his football camp this weekend.
There was not much news in the NFL on the second Sunday without football, but one story that did garner attention was a teenager heckling former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton at his football camp. The heckler told Newton that he was “about to be poor,” as he is set to hit free agency.
Hours after the clip went viral, Newton shared his side of the story, where he said he wanted to have a “man to man conversation” with the young man’s father. Not only that, but Newton posted a two-minute video of him having a conversation with the heckler following the viral interaction.
Newton tells the complete story
After the Panthers hired Matt Rhule to be their new head coach, the team opted to release Newton from his contract and subsequently replaced him with Teddy Bridgewater. As teams in need of quarterbacks began filling their positions, Newton still remained on the open market. In July, Newton found a new home in New England and signed a one-year deal with the Patriots.
The former NFL MVP did not put up the greatest numbers in his likely lone season in New England, nor did he fill the void left by Tom Brady. But one must not forget that Newton did not have the greatest receiving corps to work with. Through 15 regular-season games, Newton threw for 2,657 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions on a 65.8 completion percentage. Newton was much more impactful running the ball, as he tallied 592 yards and 12 scores on 137 carries.
Newton has earned approximately $122.5 million in his 10 seasons in the league, according to Spotrac. Besides, he is going to be on an NFL team come the 2021 season, whether that is with the Patriots or elsewhere.
Putting all of that aside, Newton is just disappointed that the attention was taken off his work with youth football players as part of the Cam Newton Foundation and placed on this brief interaction with a heckler.
