Deion Sanders had all of his personal belongings stolen from the locker room after Jackson State football’s season-opening victory over Edward Waters.

After his Jackson State football team shut out Edward Waters 53-0 on Sunday afternoon, head coach Deion Sanders realized all of his personal belongings were stolen from him in the Tigers’ locker room.

Sanders is the new head coach at Jackson State, hoping to bring the HBCU school onto a national stage. Two of his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, play for the Tigers. This was a big first win for him at the Jackson State program and one of the best moments of his life. Unfortunately, somebody went into the Tigers’ locker room to steal his phone, his wallet and everything.

Deion Sanders’ items were later recovered after the game had ended

Because Sanders is one of the greatest football players in the history of the sport, he sadly is a target for this kind of behavior. Nobody else’s belongings were touched in the Tigers’ locker room, yet here is Sanders clearly mad about what had just transpired. Fortunately for Sanders, his items were later recovered after the game, according to a Jackson State team official.

It will be an uphill climb for Sanders to re-legitimize HBCU football on the national landscape, but he seems to be up for the challenge. This is not a publicity stunt for Sanders, as he had a lucrative post-football career as an in-studio analyst for the NFL Network. Sanders coaching at Jackson State is about changing lives, one game at a time, one practice at a time and one day at a time.

As long as the Tigers keep winning, Sanders will keep Jackson State semi-nationally relevant.
