Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men in the world, has been linked to purchasing the Washington Football Team.

It’s no secret that Jeff Bezos has a ton of expendable income. Some of his wealth could be used to purchase a minority stake in the Washington Football Team, according to a report from Front Office Sports.

The report says embattled majority owner Daniel Snyder has been pressured to sell his stake after a series of damaging reports about the culture of the organization, including abusive behavior toward the team’s cheerleaders.

Would Washington Football Team fans welcome Jeff Bezos as a new owner?

While no deal has been consummated thus far, it’s fair to say Bezos has the Washington Football Team in his cart and has saved to buy later. At the least, he has the team on his wish list.

Fans of the team would no doubt welcome a new ownership group to take over and help rebuild and rebrand the organization. Bezos has a footprint already in the area as the owner of The Washington Post and establishing an Amazon headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

If Bezos did end up purchasing a stake in the franchise, it’s likely he would have a big voice in the new name for the team. The club will continue to use the Washington Football Team name for the 2021 season with an expected new name dropping in 2022.

Bezos announced earlier this year that he’s stepping down as Amazon CEO by the end of the year. Could he be using some of his newfound free time to pursue his ownership stake in the Washington Football Team?
