Chelsea stunned Atletico Madrid in the Champions League thanks to an incredible bicycle kick goal from striker Olivier Giroud

Chelsea fans are on cloud nine right now thanks to an unbelievable result against La Liga powerhouse Atletico Mardid on Tuesday in the Champions League Round of 16. That’s because striker Olivier Giroud has given the team a massive victory thanks to one of the goals of the tournament.

With the two sides tied at 0-0 in the second half, Giroud put the English Premier League club in front thanks to a goal in the 68th minute. This wasn’t any kind of goal, though, as the French star is stealing headlines thanks to his brilliant bicycle kick finish.

Olivier Giroud’s bicycle kick goal for Chelsea FC will be shown for years and years

That’s one of the best goals we’ll see in the Champions League this year. Fans are comparing it to Ronaldo’s unreal goal for Real Madrid against Juventus back in 2018, which left his supporters across the world speechless.

For Giroud, he wasn’t able to celebrate his goal in style at the start, as it was ruled offsides by the linesman. However, VAR came to the rescue and it was determined that the play was legal and Giroud’s world-class goal was given.

This is a huge result for Chelsea, as the club is hoping to move on to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Tuesday’s 1-0 victory of course is massive, as Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side was considered the favorite to move on between the two.

Now, Atletico Madrid has some work to do in the second leg if they want to advance to the next round. Chelsea is now in the driver’s seat and they have Giroud to thank for that. What a goal.
