Michigan basketball looks to avoid the upset from Luka Garza and Iowa in another huge Big Ten showdown with significant NCAA Tournament bracketology on the line.

The Big Ten has been the top conference in the country this season and is loaded with national title contenders. There have been plenty of huge matchups in the Big Ten this week, including tonight’s showdown between No. 9 Iowa and No. 3 Michigan.

The Hawkeyes have rebounded nicely from a midseason swoon by winning four of their past five games, firmly cementing themselves in the mix for a spot on the top line in the NCAA Tournament. The latest triumph came in a tight win against Penn State where Luka Garza made the difference, delivering 23 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Tonight’s game will be a major step up in weight class for Iowa as they head to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines, who have lost just one game all season long. Michigan made a statement in the best college basketball game of the season on Saturday, outlasting Ohio State in Columbus to all but sew up the Big Ten’s regular-season title.

Freshman center Hunter Dickinson starred for Michigan on Sunday, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to dominate on the interior against the Buckeyes. The win was the latest impressive result for the Wolverines, which hasn’t missed a beat since returning from a COVID pause with a gutty comeback against Wisconsin on Valentine’s Day.

This matchup is intriguing for the battle in the post between Garza, the front-runner for the National Player of the Year awards, and Dickinson, one of the few bigs in the conference capable of matching up with him. Whoever wins this battle down low should have the edge in this game.
