Kentucky basketball looks to pull off an upset against Florida basketball and potentially spoil their plans of making the NCAA Tournament.

The college basketball season is almost over with just this week and next remaining in regular-season play. The SEC is on pace to send six teams into the NCAA Tournament, including the Florida Gators, who are just clear of the bubble mess at this juncture of the campaign.

Florida enters this contest on a two-game winning streak, including Tuesday’s convincing 74-57 road win at Auburn. Tre Mann led the way for the Gators, scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to complete a double-double, while sophomore Scottie Lewis added 16 points for good measure.

This game against Kentucky is crucial for Florida, which has a tough closing week with matchups against Missouri and Tennessee looming. Finding a way to win here would give the Gators some much-needed cushion heading into a tough week.

This game is essentially meaningless for the Wildcats, who have won three in a row but aren’t getting on the bubble anytime soon with an 8-13 record. The only path that John Calipari’s team has to the NCAA Tournament is to win the SEC’s automatic bid at the conference tournament, making the end of the regular season all about building momentum for that event.

The Wildcats haven’t played since last Saturday’s win over Tennessee after a mid-week contest with Texas A&M was canceled due to COVID issues within the Aggies program. Having an extended rest could benefit Kentucky here since they should be fresh entering this game and face significantly less pressure to win it than the Gators do.
