For Baltimore Ravens fans hoping Lamar Jackson would agree to a contract extension soon, it looks like the two sides are far apart in their discussions.

In recent campaigns, Lamar Jackson has solidified himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the game for the Baltimore Ravens. With his dual-threat abilities, the speedster has been a pain for opposing defenses for a while now.

Because of how great he’s been, the Ravens are hoping to sign him to a big-time contract extension. However, according to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the two sides are far apart in those discussions.

The Ravens and Lamar Jackson are far apart in their discussions for a long-term extension

If you’re a Ravens fan, you’ve got to feel rough seeing this latest report from Volin. Time and time again across the NFL, we’ve seen some serious drama develop with teams trying to get things settled with their star signal-callers. Do we have to bring up the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott?

That kind of a situation is the last thing folks in Baltimore want to see happen with Jackson. Jackson has made it quite clear he wants to stay with the Ravens and he has a phenomenal relationship with everyone in the city.

With that said, he indeed has turned into one of the top signal-callers in the game and he’ll expect to be paid as such. While Baltimore won’t be giving him a $500 million deal like the Chiefs did with Patrick Mahomes, Jackson will want top dollar moving forward.

Right now, it looks like Baltimore supporters will need to be patient to see if things can get done here. The longer things go unsettled, though, the more pressure will be put on the front office to make Jackson happy before the season gets here.
