Steelers: Stephon Tuitt pays tribute to fallen teammate Louis Nix

The football world continues to mourn the passing of former Notre Dame star Louis Nix, including his former teammate Stephon Tuitt.

It’s been a rough weekend for football fans everywhere, as it was revealed on Saturday that former Notre Dame standout nose tackle Louis Nix was found dead after he had been reported missing by his family.

As you might imagine, there are countless folks out there who are in complete and total disbelief over the news. This includes Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt, who starred with Nix for the Fighting Irish. Tuitt took to Instagram to share an emotional goodbye for his lost friend.

Stephon Tuitt posted an emotional message on Instagram following the death of Louis Nix

“Another Teammate life gone too soon,” Tuitt wrote. ‘You never know what people are going through because we have such busy lives. It sometimes take moments like this to sit back and appreciate your blessing of being able to breathe. Love ya and will miss ya buddy.”

As you can tell, Tuitt was rocked by the loss of Nix. Earlier this week, Nix was reported missing in Jacksonville. On Saturday night,  the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that Nix’s body had been found.

After a standout career at Notre Dame, Nix was selected in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He spent one season in Houston before joining the New York Giants in 2015.

He never saw the field for the Texans, but appeared in four games for New York. Unfortunately for Nix, his career in the pros never quite took off. After his time with the Giants, Nix suited up on the practice squads for the Jaguars and Washington Football Team, but never made it back to an active roster.
