. Tight End. Detroit Lions. Kyle Pitts. 7. player. 50

Heading into the 2021 NFL season, the Detroit Lions have a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball, and that includes bringing in more playmakers on offense. They have traded away Matthew Stafford, replacing him with Jared Goff, so getting him a difference-maker at the tight end position makes a lot of sense here.

Kyle Pitts from Florida has been mocked as high as a top-5 pick this April, so there is a legitimate chance he is not even still here at pick No. 7. However, if he is still available, former tight end and head coach Dan Campbell should run the card to the podium, as he has the kind of talent at that position that can really improve this offense immediately.

. Quarterback. Carolina Panthers. Trey Lance. 8. player. 87

If the first round begins this way, and the Carolina Panthers are still sitting here at pick No. 8 overall, then they have a no-brainer ahead of them. This is a franchise that has been all-in on the Deshaun Watson trade stuff and has stated that Teddy Bridgewater is not the long-term answer at the quarterback spot.

So, here, they can get one of the quarterbacks with a very high ceiling in this draft class, adding North Dakota State star Trey Lance. This is a kid who is going to make plays at the next level, and going to Carolina, he would be allowed to start right away, and I believe he has what it takes to do just that.

. Cornerback. Denver Broncos. Caleb Farley. 9. player. 45

The Denver Broncos hold the No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and they could certainly end up trading up to get a new franchise quarterback. However, if they do stand pat, and decide to roll the dice on Drew Lock for another season, they have to do something to address the secondary, especially at cornerback.

With this selection, the Broncos select Caleb Farley from Virginia Tech, a player who looked like an absolute playmaker during his Pro Day. Farley has incredible speed, is outstanding in coverage, and as we inch closer to the 2021 NFL Draft, some like him to leapfrog Patrick Surtain II as the first cornerback off the board.
