Former Auburn football star Big Kat Bryant is following Gus Malzahn to UCF.

UCF football coach Gus Malzahn can celebrate a familiar face joining him in Orlando, as former Auburn football standout Big Kat Bryant transferred to the Knights on Tuesday.

Bryant tweeted a graphic of him in a UCF Knights jersey, with “Big Kat in the Bounce House” just to the left of him. Accompanying the graphic, Bryant referenced Matthew 6:34 with two prayer hands next to it in his tweet. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Bryant is only concerned with today.

Bryant committed to Auburn in Feb. 2017 to play for Malzahn out of Crisp County High School in Georgia. Auburn won the SEC West in Bryant’s true freshman season. Shortly after Malzahn was let go in December, Bryant opted to transfer to Tennessee to play for his former defensive coordinator Kevin Steele in Knoxville. However, things have changed a great deal.

Former UCF head coach Josh Heupel followed his former athletic director Danny White to Knoxville to be the next leader of the Vols. A few weeks later, Malzahn was hired to replace Heupel in Orlando. With Malzahn now leading another program of his own at UCF, Bryant’s commitment to the Knights makes sense.

Bryant is the second former Auburn football player to join Malzahn at UCF, following the transfer of running back Mark-Antony Richards.

Look for Bryant, Malzahn and the rest of the Knights to compete for a 2021 AAC Championship.
