Michigan football projects to be the landing spot for four-star wide receiver Tay’shawn Trent.

Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football program has done incredible work on the recruiting trail of late.

Since Maurice Linguist and Mike Macdonald arrived Ann Arbor to revitalize the defense, the Wolverines have made some serious headway in recruitment. After landing 2022 five-star cornerback Will Johnson and Texas Tech graduate transfer quarterback Alan Bowman on Sunday, they are the favorites to gain four-star wide receiver Tay’shawn Trent‘s commitment.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Trent is the No. 7 player from Michigan, the No. 40 wide receiver in the country and the No. 281 player nationally. The 2022 wide receiver from Eastpointe, Michigan will announce his commitment on Wednesday, Mar. 3. Of the nine predictions made by the 247Sports staff, all have him going to Ann Arbor to play his college ball.

Adding Tay’shawn Trent gives Michigan another shot at a top-10 class for 2022

Of the 15 official offers Trent has, the two other teams to keep an eye on potentially breaking the hearts of the Michigan faithful are the Kentucky Wildcats and the in-state rival Michigan State Spartans. Given how well Mark Stoops and Mel Tucker are as recruiters, this would be a tremendous get for Michigan if the Wolverines do in fact secure Trent’s commitment Wednesday.

Though Michigan is still lightyears away from beating arch-rival Ohio State on the gridiron, continuing to win in recruitment will help them close the gap on the Buckeyes. Michigan may never beat Ohio State consistently enough to win the Big Ten if the Buckeyes have it rolling. However, you cannot deny what Michigan is doing in recruitment. They now have our attention.

As long as Michigan wins in recruitment, it gives them a chance to be successful on the gridiron.
