This is a variation on the same deal the Celtics would have to offer the Thunder or Rockets but this is really all they have to offer without trading Kemba Walker or otherwise making big changes in their rotation. Nesmith’s shooting is probably more intriguing for the Bulls’ than Langford’s upside and Thompson is just here for salary matching. Again, the Bulls would like a first-round pick for Young but they may not be able to find a team willing to offer one and they’ll want to get something for Young.

Of the players listed here, Young is by far the best fit for the Celtics. He’s not the shooter that Ariza or Tucker are (or were) but he’s been fantastic this year slashing and making plays for the Bulls from the elbows and he could contribute in plenty of complementary ways for Boston. He’s also a solid defender with the size and quickness to defend 3s and 4s and even play some small-ball 5 if the playoff matchup is right.

The Celtics will need plenty of other things to break their way for a real championship run to materialize but landing one of these veterans at the trade deadline would certainly help the cause.
