Ray Allen says he’d love to be a part of Seattle SuperSonics ownership group

NBA legend Ray Allen has now tossed his name into the hat of former players interested in reviving the Seattle SuperSonics franchise.

Since the Seattle SuperSonics transitioned to Oklahoma City to become the Thunder in 2008, NBA fans have called for the resurgence of the legendary organization.  The SuperSonics had drafted now two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant the year prior to the move before seeing all of its hard work shipped off to OKC.

The team’s legendary rosters and uniforms have always had NBA and ready for their return. The latest former player to state their willingness in aiding that process is two-time NBA champion Ray Allen, a heralded member of the SuperSonics organization.

Ray Allen is interested in being part-owner of the Seattle SuperSonics

Over the weekend, Allen enjoyed the ABC matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets in NBA Watch Party on Clubhouse hosted by Rosalyn Gold-Onwude.

During the event, Khristina Williams, founder of Girls Talk Sports TV, asked Allen about his interest in owning a stake in the Seattle Sonics.

“I would love for Seattle to have a team, and I would love to be part of the ownership. When I left Seattle in 07, so many were disenchanted with the ownership, and the one thing that I told them was, this is something people all over the world in any city with a sports team,” stated Allen during the event.

“People were upset with the then owners, and I told them, listen, I wear Seattle on my chest, but I only wear it for a brief time. When I leave, this is your city. You always have to fight for your city, for your team, and the pride of what it is. You cannot lose a sports team in your city because it is a community resource.”
