An absolute mind melter of a story about Terry Bradshaw and Tom Brady was uncovered on Twitter.

Time, unlike the Earth, is a flat circle.

If Matthew McConaughey didn’t convince us of this, then buckle up for this absolutely insane story that recently surfaced about early-80s Terry Bradshaw and Tom Brady.

One might see that and draw the conclusion that this story was about Bradshaw meeting a young Brady in a story of two legends converging before they were both legends — we’ve heard that a million times and will hear it a million more.

This story involves Bradshaw checking into a Louisiana hospital in 1983 using an assumed name.

Famous people use fake names to check into hospitals and hotels all the time. The fact that Bradshaw used a fake name is not particularly new or interesting. What is interesting — and borderline unbelievable — is the name he used.

Terry Bradshaw made up a Super Bowl future legend’s name as his alias

Bradshaw checked into the hospital under the name ‘Thomas Brady’.

That’s right, Tom Brady.

In 1983.

18 years before Brady would make his NFL debut.

We have a number of questions.

Did Terry Bradshaw know each other?

Not at this point in history. Brady was born in 1977, so he was alive when this happened but he was just another kid growing up in the Bay Area. Bradshaw was in the final year of his Hall of Fame career and at the time was the winningest quarterback in Super Bowl history.

There’s no family history between Bradshaw and Brady?

The closest Brady would have come to meeting Bradshaw is if his parents had brought him as a baby to the Steelers Week 13 game at Candlestick in 1978.

Are we sure this isn’t some Days of Future Past comic book origin story where Bradshaw created Brady in a lab and this was his one slipup that revealed the howl plan?

Honestly, let’s not count it out at this point.

But seriously there’s no way this is true, right?

That was my initial thought too. This has to be one of those doctored Reddit things because it’s way too obvious to be a coincidence. But the article published is in the newspaper’s archive so it holds water.

What are the statistical chances that Bradshaw used Brady’s name?

If you’re looking for math answers, I regret to inform you that you’ve come to the wrong place. Ian Levy, our Creative Editorial Director, is a numbers wizard and he was ‘perplexed’. Matt Verderame, our NFL Editor, said he stopped paying attention to math when it incorporated letters. My career in mathematics peaked in 3rd grade when I aced Mrs. Boldt’s multiplication test in under 4 minutes and my parents got a PS2 game as a reward (Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, for life). Think about this though: Chances are someone — maybe more than one person — has used your name as an alias when checking in somewhere.

That’s it, folks, it’s been confirmed. We’re living in a simulation.
