Round 6

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Virginia. Tony Poljan. 202. player. 59. TE

The Dolphins don’t necessarily need a tight end, but this is the sixth round. The Dolphins are going to look for the player who has the best upside, and Tony Poljan is an interesting prospect at the tight end position. He’s a massive specimen, standing at 6-foot-7. He’d immediately become one of the tallest tight ends in the league.

Poljan was able to get open in the Virginia offense after transferring from Central Michigan. He’s a former quarterback who moved to tight end, and it’s really fit him well. He’s already an above average blocker with major upside in the passing game. He makes a lot of sense in double tight end sets with Mike Gesicki. They still have Durham Smythe and Adam Shaheen on the roster, but they are both replaceable.

Poljan has insane upside as a prospect, and the Dolphins would be happy to have him here.

player. 59. Scouting Report. OL. Notre Dame. Tommy Kraemer. Pick Analysis. 206

More offensive line? Yes, more offensive line. The Dolphins know their needs, and the line is number one, two, and three on the list. They need to protect Tua Tagovailoa for him to grow and succeed now that he’s almost two years from his major hip injury. Tommy Kraemer is an interesting piece who was on the stellar Notre Dame offensive line. They kept Ian Book upright, and he had his best season.

Kraemer depends a lot on his partners to succeed, but if he has talent at right tackle, then he can excel. He’s really good when he’s not asked to move much. That sounds really bad on paper, but in certain schemes it’s exactly what an offensive coordinator wants. With such talented tackles already taken in this draft, Kraemer can come in and be a depth guard right away. Then, if someone goes down, Kraemer can step in and be better than most late-round guards.

He can also grow into an above average guard that fills a hole the Dolphins desperately need to fill. The Dolphins need to get as much help on the line as they can.
