Georgia football: Overwhelming majority of fans want alcohol sold at Sanford Stadium

In Seth Emerson of The Athletic‘s fan survey, several important things were revealed by Dawg Nation to the public. These topics included where the annual rivalry game between Georgia and Florida should be played (Jacksonville or rotate), if Georgia Tech is worth playing annually anymore and of course, if they should be able to consume alcohol at Sanford when it is Saturday in Athens.

Even though alcohol sales have been permitted in the SEC since 2019, the University of Georgia continues to hold out on this potential game-changing endeavor. A traditionally conservative state usually votes down any blue law should it be up for a vote. However, Emerson believes it is inevitable that beer, wine and mixed drinks will eventually be sold at Georgia games down the line.

Georgia has earned its reputation as one of the premier party schools in the country. Trust me, the downtown scene is unlike anything that exists in the United States of America. If alcoholic beverages were sold at Sanford Stadium, it could prevent excessive pre-game binge-drinking prior to getting to the gate. Then again, this is Georgia we are talking about and Dawgs do like to party.

Whether or not it happens, Georgia fans embrace having alcohol at Sanford Stadium, three to one.
