5 players Ravens should draft in the first round
4. Wyatt Davis, OG, Ohio State
No, the Ravens offensive line was not bad in 2020. Although, it could have been better and upgrading at this area should be considered.
Ronnie Stanley played well until he was hurt, and Orlando Brown Jr. has been great at tackle as well. However, Stanley did get injured; Therefore, Brown was shifted from right to left tackle and played phenomenally. Now, Brown wants to either play left tackle or be traded. With many steps involved in a possible Brown trade happening, and for this article, let’s work on the hypothetical outcome that both Brown and Stanley are anchoring both sides of the line next year.
The interior line could use help, and Ohio State’s Wyatt Davis could be a target. For the Buckeyes, he started 28 games in three seasons.
There may be a bit of a disclaimer around Davis and his health. He did leave the National Championship game due to injury, which may alarm some scouts. Otherwise, he seems like a potential immediate impact player to most team’s offensive lines.
Getting younger and cheaper on the line would be ideal for the Ravens. Also, with how much the offense is based on the run, the line must have capable players to create gaps for Jackson and the running backs.
Current running back J.K. Dobbins has some familiarity running behind Davis, as both played at Ohio State for a brief time together. Maybe that will resume in the pros if Davis is around when DeCosta is on the phone.
