Expectations are high for the New York Mets this season and fans are hoping the players can get the job done and take home the NL East crown.

Believe it or not, there’s some pep in the step of New York Mets fans everywhere leading up to the 2021 campaign. The team made a monster splash, thanks to new owner Steve Cohen, by working the blockbuster deal to bring Francisco Lindor to Queens.

While that’s massive, the addition of the star shortstop alone won’t help the team capture its first NL East title since 2015. For that to happen, something else will be crucial: for Noah Syndergaard to get back to his top form.

The Mets need Noah Syndergaard to bring his best stuff in 2021 for New York to win the division

Syndergaard underwent Tommy John Surgery and missed the entire 2020 campaign. You know that hurt for him to not be able to take the bump, but the man known as ‘Thor’ has been grinding like crazy to get back on the field as soon as possible.

While Syndergaard will miss the start of the new campaign, he’s looking at a potential return for June. That will allow for him to pitch in the majority of the season, which will no question be crucial for New York in their pursuit of an NL East crown.

That most certainly won’t come easy, as the Braves are considered at least co-favorites to win the division. With the addition of Lindor, however, New York has plenty of confidence leading up to the season. Add the return of Syndergaard a little bit down the road too and there’s plenty of reason for the Mets fanbase to believe they can win the East and get back to the postseason. We’ll see how things go down here.
