5 players Jaguars should draft in the first round
4. Jaguars first-round draft targets – EDGE Azeez Ojulari
Like most teams around the league, the Jaguars find themselves in need of more pass-rush presence. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers demonstrated the importance of a strong pass rush in the Super Bowl when Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett harassed Patrick Mahomes for the entire game, a key factor in the Buccaneers’ victory.
Jacksonville’s defense was pitiful rushing the passer in 2020, recording only 18 sacks in 16 games. Drafting Ojulari out of Georgia would be a meaningful step to improve the Jaguars’ defense in that area.
The Peach Bowl was a coming-out party for Ojulari, who racked up three sacks against Cincinnati and was a terror throughout the game. Ojulari has incredible quickness off the snap and has room to grow into his frame at just 21 years old.
Spending the 25th pick on Ojulari would be a tremendous move for Jacksonville, which can look to pair him with a free-agent acquisition in the hopes of eventually replacing Yannick Ngakoue’s production. Ojulari has a chance to be a very special player and landing him in the back of the first round would be an excellent choice.
