North Carolina basketball is 2-0 at the ACC Tournament and can reach the final with a win over Florida State tonight.
Playing Championship Week in the middle of a global pandemic was going to be a challenge and the ACC Tournament has been very unlucky with the virus. Duke and Virginia have already had to withdraw from the event thanks to positive tests within their programs, throwing the flow of the tournament into complete flux.
One team that has managed to stay on schedule is North Carolina, which has won its first two games to get to the quarterfinal round. The Tar Heels picked up an impressive win against Virginia Tech last night, picking up an 81-73 victory to get themselves off the bubble ahead of Selection Sunday.

Armando Bacot had another big game down low for North Carolina, scoring 17 points and collecting 13 rebounds as the Tar Heels were extremely effective in the post. Roy Williams’ team is built from the inside out thanks to a strong collection of big men, making them a unique matchup for teams to deal with ahead of the NCAA Tournament.
The Tar Heels are set to square off with Florida State tonight after the Seminoles were advanced to this matchup after Duke withdrew from the tournament. Florida State hasn’t played since its season-ending loss to Notre Dame but now has a clear path to the ACC Tournament title with Virginia out of the picture.
These two teams met in late February with North Carolina winning by eight in Chapel Hill, a victory that helped with their NCAA Tournament push. The winner of this game will take on Georgia Tech tomorrow after the Yellow Jackets were advanced to the final after Virginia withdrew due to their own positive COVID test.
