Running back Le’Veon Bell is exhausted by the “many crazy rumors” out there.

The free agency circus technically hasn’t even begun, but Le’Veon Bell is already sick of the attention.

The running back, who spent most of 2020 with the Chiefs, will go on the market on March 17 when free agency begins, so naturally, rumors and speculation have flown around regarding his eventual landing spot. Of course, those aren’t the only rumors Bell has to deal with. He’s also dealt with attacks on his personal life.

Bell is calling it all “crazy.” At this point, we’re not sure if he’s talking about free agency or the above rumor.

One of the most popular talking points on Bell over the last couple of weeks is the potential for him to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have a need at running back with James Conner heading for free agency himself. Bell needs a new team.

The connection is obvious since Bell made his name in the NFL with three Pro Bowl seasons in Pittsburgh.

Whether or not Bell is referring specifically to that speculation isn’t clear.

Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers had a messy breakup not long ago

The idea of Bell going back to the Steelers after all the drama of his departure is pretty wild. Coming off an All-Pro season in 2017, the running 26-year-old running back wanted to get paid. The Steelers weren’t willing to meet his asking price, so he sat out the entire 2018 season when they franchise tagged him. Ultimately, Pittsburgh opted not to franchise tag him again in 2019, and he signed with the Jets.

Bell’s time with the Jets wasn’t particularly magical. He ran for 789 yards in 2019. By October of 2020, he began hinting to New York that he wanted out. They cut him and he landed with the Chiefs. He finished with 254 yards and two touchdowns. Maybe Bell figured out the grass wasn’t greener on the other side?

Things are never quiet when it comes to Bell. No one should expect this round of free agency to be any different.
