The Los Angeles Lakers will be without big man Anthony Davis for at least the next two weeks.

The Los Angeles Lakers had dreams and aspirations of running it back to win another NBA title in 2021.

However, those plans took a massive hit after forward Anthony Davis was sidelined with leg injuries since Feb. 14. For Lakers fans hoping Davis would return to the court to help propel the team towards the top of the Western Conference standings, you will have t wait a bit longer.

On Friday, the Lakers announced that Davis has entered the next phase of his rehabilitation process and he will be re-evaluated by doctors in two weeks.

Lakers: Los Angeles to be without Anthony Davis for next two weeks minimum

With Davis sidelined for an additional two weeks at minimum, that means the Lakers will likely be without him for their next eight games. That includes contests against playoff contenders like the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers.

Back on Feb. 14, Davis exited Los Angeles’ game against the Denver Nuggets with a right calf strain. In addition to the strain, it was determined that Davis re-aggravated tendinosis in his right Achilles.

In his 23 games this season, Davis has averaged 22.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks, all while shooting 53.3-percent from the field.

With Davis out, Kyle Kuzma has stepped up to the plate as the Lakers’ starting power forward. During Friday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, Kuzma scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the 105-100 win. In fact, this was the third consecutive game in which Kuzma notched a double-double.

While being out for the next two weeks does sting for the Lakers, it is better to be safe than sorry with Davis. With the playoffs on the horizon, you best believe Los Angeles wants Davis to be at full health to help make a push for the franchise’s 18th NBA championship.
