The Chicago Bears could be ready to make quite the statement in free agency, with the team interested in potentially signing standout offensive tackle Trent Williams.

NFL free agency is in full swing and we’ve already seen some big names crossed off the board thanks to some monster deals. Well, could offensive lineman Trent Williams be ready to join a new team in the near future as well?

According to Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Bears have interest in potentially stealing the offensive tackle from the San Francisco 49ers. Will general manager Ryan Pace be able to pull off some magic here?

The Chicago Bears could make quite the splash by landing Trent Williams in free agency

At 32 years old, Williams is still a hot commodity and would no doubt improve any offensive line that he joins. While the 49ers are hoping to keep him in San Francisco with the organization, multiple other teams are ready to try and get him to sign on the dotted line.

For the Bears, it really would be a huge get. The only issue right now for the organization is they don’t know who will be starting at quarterback in 2021. The Russell Wilson trade rumors continue to swirl, with Chicago fans basically convinced that the Seahawks signal-caller will be heading to Soldier Field sooner than later.

That’s all up in the air. However, with the Packers staying busy in free agency, the last thing Chicago wants to do is stand pat and not make some noise as well. At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, Williams is a massive presence and could really help open things up for the offense.

He’s been one of the best tackles in the game for years now and has been named a Pro Bowler eight times. We’ll see if Pace is able to get him to Chicago.
