Rob Gronkowski is likely to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but if he does leave the defending Super Bowl champions after only one season, it might be for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski is excited about experiencing free agency for the first time. While he is likely to return to the defending Super Bowl champions, Pro Football Talk believes the Las Vegas Raiders are the most likely to sign him if he does leave.

“I definitely want to be back with the Buccaneers. That’s where my eyesight is. That’s where I’m leaning toward, big time,” said Gronkowski on The Ringer’s 10 Questions with Kyle Brandt podcast.

“But with the free agency process, you just never know what may happen. There are some other teams interested out there, too. I’ve also never been a part of the free agency process, so I actually want to dip my toes in, just to see what’s out there.”

Would Rob Gronkowski leave Tom Brady for the Raiders?

The Raiders love to use the tight end in their passing offense. A secondary tight end spot has opened up in Las Vegas with Jason Witten retiring for a second time. Gronkowski would in theory be backing up Pro Bowl-level tight end Darren Waller in the Raiders offense. Gronkowski is a willing blocker, which would make things easier for running back Josh Jacobs to rack up yardage.

Let’s also not overlook Jon Gruden being the Raiders head coach. Yes, pairing Gronkowski with Gruden would be absolutely phenomenal television. However, going to Sin City would mean Gronkowski would be parting ways with his beloved quarterback Tom Brady. It may be year by year for Gronkowski at this point, but he should want to play out the rest of his career with Brady.

If Gronkowski went to Las Vegas, you better believe the Silver and Black would throw a huge party.
