The Chiefs should jump at the chance to bring back center Rodney Hudson after he was released by the Raiders.

Teams around the NFL are cutting top talent in order to get under the salary cap and have more financial flexibility.

The Las Vegas Raiders were the latest team to make a surprise cut by moving on from Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson. He is now on the open market and one team that should be trying to sign him right away is the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kansas City should look to bring Rodney Hudson home

Hudson was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. However, he left following the 2014 season to sign a five-year deal with the Raiders.

The center made three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team since leaving Kansas City and could return as a key piece on a contending team. The Chiefs already released two starting tackles in Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz. Center Austin Reiter is on the open market and Hudson could come in as an upgrade at the position. He would also line up alongside new guard Joe Thuney on this new-look line.

The top goal for the Chiefs this offseason should be forming an offensive line that can properly protect Patrick Mahomes for the next several years. He was chased around like crazy in the Super Bowl and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers proved the Chiefs needed upgrades on the line.

Signing Hudson would give the Chiefs an elite center and allow him to finally live up to his potential in Kansas City after heading west when he was hitting his prime.
