5. Brooklyn Nets

Technically speaking, the Brooklyn Nets will probably function as buyers on the buyout market more so than the actual trade market. They could swing a deal for Spencer Dinwiddie, who is out for the season with a partially torn ACL but still has plenty of value around the league despite his impending player option.

If they are unable (or reluctant) to turn his $11.5 million salary into pieces that can help with their 2021 title push, the Nets will turn their attention to the buyout market. Sure, they already got Blake Griffin from said buyout market, and yes, it might seem somewhat greedy for a team with Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving and now Griffin to want even more, but that’s the nature of the business when you’re competing for championships.

After all, Durant has been banged up, Griffin is a shadow of his former self and DeAndre Jordan is far from the ideal option as the team’s starting center, especially after Jarrett Allen was shipped off in the Harden deal. Should someone like Andre Drummond hit the buyout market, don’t be surprised to see Brooklyn competing with the Los Angeles Lakers for his services.
