A new offensive tackle is among the draft picks in the latest Cowboys mock draft.

The offseason is set to begin soon for the Dallas Cowboys, who have a lot of needs to address in free agency and the draft. It has been just over a month since the last full mock draft for Dallas, meaning now is a good time to consider what changes could be coming to the organization’s plans.

With a projected 10 draft picks coming, the Cowboys will have plenty of resources to improve their roster. Let’s start out with their first-rounder, which they can use to improve the offensive line.

One of the issues that the Cowboys had that flew under the radar last season was struggles on the offensive line. Injuries decimated the unit as Tyron Smith missed a ton of time with a neck injury, opening the possibility he could be a salary-cap casualty thanks to a massive cap hit.

Slater would be a good fit here as one of the draft’s top offensive tackles. Even though he opted out of the 2020 season due to the pandemic, Slater’s ability to play both left tackle and on the interior of the line could make him a tremendous asset in Dallas.

The Cowboys could potentially use Slater as a starter at guard, center or tackle in the long term. Filling this hole now could save Jerry Jones some major headaches down the road since finding offensive linemen isn’t easy in free agency.
