Dallas Cowboys mock draft – Fourth Round

Scouting Report. Syracuse. 116. Pick Analysis. CB. Ifeatu Melifonwu. player. 123

Given the Cowboys’ desperate need for help in the secondary it makes sense to spend another draft pick on the cornerback position. While Samuel could be an immediate contributor in the slot, Melifonwu could be a good developmental corner on the outside.

The thing that stands out for Melifonwu is his length and wingspan, which makes him an ideal fit for Quinn’s defensive scheme which relies on big physical corners to make plays in zone coverage. Melifonwu could be a nice guy to target early in the fourth round with the potential for huge upside.

Pick Analysis. DE. Shaka Toney. 139. Scouting Report. Penn State. player. 123

This pick is projected to be a compensatory selection and the Cowboys can use it to take a swing on adding some pass-rush potential with Toney, who turned some heads at the Senior Bowl. A defensive end at Penn State, Toney has the frame to be an edge-rushing outside linebacker in the NFL.

Since there are a few capable edge rushers on Dallas’ roster, the pick of Toney here is a long-term bet that he develops into a solid starter as a pro. Toney can contribute right away as a pass-rushing specialist on third downs, something that can help the defense right away.
