5 teams who would happily take Aaron Rodgers off the Packers hands
4. Chicago Bears
The list of the best quarterbacks in Bears’ history includes Sid Luckman (HOF), Jim McMahon (Super Bowl XX win), Jay Cutler (NFC Championship Game), Jim Harbaugh and Erik Kramer. Whether it’s drafting the wrong guy (Cade McNown, Mitch Trubisky), missing on bigger moves (Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson of recent vintage) or just flat-out making an uninspiring move (Nick Foles, Andy Dalton), it feels like the Bears are forever cursed to make the wrong decision on a quarterback. The 20th overall pick in this year’s draft offers a glimmer of hope (Mac Jones?).
Bears fans may not love the idea of getting Rodgers, as he’s repeatedly schooled them quarterbacking their chief rival for a long time. But beggars can’t be choosers, and Rodgers is just petty enough that he’d push to join a Packers’ rival in order to stick it to them twice a season (another Favre parallel). Favre needed the aforementioned gap year to make it happen though, which wouldn’t necessarily be ideal for the Bears or Rodgers from the perspective of it being a year away from possible already.
Like the Vikings elsewhere in the NFC North, the path for Rodgers to get to the Bears isn’t incredibly easy or clear from a broad view. But never say never.
