Nick Saban sticks a knife in LSU’s chest with recruiting pitch to Louisiana recruits (Video)
Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s recruiting pitch to Louisiana recruits is an absolutely brutal kick in the gut to LSU football.
Nick Saban has a hell of a recruiting pitch for Lousiana prospects that should make LSU sick. He just has to list off the names of all the stars he’s poached from the state.
The Alabama head coach spoke to the Louisiana High School Coaches Association this week and used the opportunity to stick it to the Tigers.
“You [the LHSCA] have certainly been good to us as we continue to recruit Louisiana,” Saban said. “We’ve had some had fantastic players including Smitty [DeVonta Smith]…Landon Collins and Eddie Lacy and Cam Robinson and Tim Williams and Dylan Moses and Christian Harris…Lots and lots of good players, and I didn’t name them all.”
Saban might as well have taken a glove and slapped LSU in the face one time for each of those names. Those heavy hitters from Louisiana have helped to build rival Alabama’s dynasty.
Nick Saban’s recruiting pitch has drawn Louisiana talent out of the state
Eddie Lacy was the No. 6 player in Louisiana in 2009. Cam Robinson was the top offensive tackle in the nation and second-best player from the state in 2014. Tim Williams was No. 3 in LA in 2013, so was Dylan Moses in 2017. Christian Harris ranked No. 5 in 2019.
Saban won his first national title with Alabama in 2009. Since then, he’s won another five while dominating the SEC. LSU won a title in 2019, so it hasn’t been totally one-sided, but the Tide have certainly had the edge in the last decade and more.
Would LSU have been more competitive if those stars had stayed closer to home? Maybe. Alabama would have been weaker, that’s for sure. It’s all about recruiting in college football and Saban knows how to pitch it.
