The NFL will reportedly be moving to 17 games per season, and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is not happy about it.

The 16-game NFL season is no more.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL is expected to officially expand the regular season from 16 to 17 games in the coming days.

The 17-game season was part of the new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the NFL Players Association, which was put into place back in March of last year. The CBA was controversial for many reasons.

The CBA, including the 17-game season, was contentious among players. Green Bay Packers veteran Aaron Rodgers and Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson were among the players who were vocal about their disapproval of the agreement. The new CBA was passed by just 60 votes.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara is not a fan of the new 17-game NFL season

With the new 17-game season set to become official, players are still voicing their dissension with it. Arguably the best running back in the league is certainly not feeling an extended season.

New Orleans Saints star Alvin Kamara let off an NSFW tweet in response to the rule change.

It makes sense as to why players wouldn’t want an extra game added to their season. There are more opportunities to get hurt and players are aware now more than ever of the health dangers of playing professional football.

The league last extended the season 43 years ago when it jumped from 14 to 16 games. The NFL started with 12 games in 1947 and made the leap to 14 in 1961.

Now 17 games being played in 18 weeks will be the new model. We’ll have to wait and see what kind of effects this brings to the game and who benefits from it.
