The Brooklyn Nets have picked up LaMarcus Aldridge in their quest to build a LeBron-besting roster. Bronny James is not impressed.

The Brooklyn Nets’ trade for James Harden earlier in the season may have raised their ceiling but it also left them short on depth, particularly in the frontcourt. Without much in the way of trade assets to swing another deal, ring-chasing veterans on the buyout market was always going to be the likeliest way for them to improve. And over the past few weeks they’ve added both Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge.

The Nets, and the rest of the NBA, are chasing LeBron and the defending-champion Lakers and so every move has to be viewed through that lens. Which, as Bronny James points out, is pretty ridiculous.

What did Bronny James have to say about the newest member of the Brooklyn Nets?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Bronny isn’t all that impressed by the signings of Aldridge and Griffin, considering they both peaked when he was like 11. But still, the Nets roster now has two former NBA MVPs, and six former All-Stars with a combined 41 All-Star appearances among them. They also have perhaps the NBA’s best shooter (non-Curry division) in Joe Harris and the minds behind some of the greatest offenses in NBA history as coaches — Steve Nash and Mike D’Antoni.

And despite all that firepower, they have roughly the same record as the Lakers, in a much easier conference, and still trail the Philadelphia 76ers for the best record in the East. Even with LeBron and Anthony Davis both out of the lineup without firm return dates set, Brooklyn’s title odds are only slightly ahead of the Lakers.

Bronny is right, seems like a lot of work just to stop an 18-year NBA veteran with a bum ankle.
