After the latest controversy surrounding the LSU football program, Paul Finebaum takes aim at Tigers football coach Ed Orgeron.

It’s been one ugly story after another for the LSU football program in recent weeks. On the heels of the sexual misconduct scandal involving former LSU coach Les Miles and how his unacceptable behavior and actions toward women and female students was essentially tolerated, now comes more disturbing sexual harassment allegations.

Former LSU star running back Derrius Guice is facing allegations he sexually harassed a 74-year-old woman, Gloria Scott, who works as part of the security detail at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The sickening details and allegations levied toward Guice are only part of the story.

As part of the story, Scott went to LSU football coach Ed Orgeron to tell her account of the events involving Guice. She reportedly wanted Guice suspended for the team’s bowl game, but Orgeron did not punish him, at least not publicly, and Guice was not disciplined for any of his three sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Even worse, Orgeron lied about his knowledge of the incident, which is where SEC Network host Paul Finebaum directed his criticism during his weekly appearance on WJOX.

Paul Finebaum takes issue with Ed Orgeron over latest LSU football sex scandal

“Until now, Coach O had been a footnote. His name came up very early on, and then it faded away,” Finebaum said. “In the last couple of weeks, it’s been Les Miles all the time. Now, Coach O is back in the forefront again. It’s a dangerous position to be in. This is not some outlier situation here. This is a person that sounds to have some credibility.

“It’s not like she’s calling Ed Orgeron a liar about whether they argued about a parking spot and he said he was there first and she said ‘no I was there first.’ This is serious stuff. When you start looking around at how the university has been perceived and what has happened elsewhere as a result, yes, it puts Orgeron clearly on the front burner as opposed to the back burner.”

This will hang over Orgeron and the LSU football program like a dark cloud. It’s hard to sell your program to recruits when one sex scandal after another keeps happening.
