Mike Soroka is coming off a torn Achilles in 2020 and the starting hurler looked outstanding in his first showing of the spring.

Entering the 2021 campaign, Atlanta Braves fans are ready to see what starter Mike Soroka will be able to do. The hurler’s 2020 ended in heartbreaking fashion, as he suffered a torn Achilles early on.

Now, Soroka is ready to remind everyone in the bigs that he can be one of the best studs in the NL East. Well, thus far things are off to a great start, as Soroka made his first appearance of the spring on Tuesday and he wasted no time in sending a message.

Braves hurler Mike Soroka only needed three pitches to record his first strikeout of spring training

If you’re an Atlanta supporter, how can you not get fired up over that video? Soroka took the bump for the first time since last August and really looked like his old self. Perhaps making things even more exciting, his glorious moment came against the Boston Red Sox.

The drop on his third pitch to record strikeout No. 1 was out of this world too. Remember, Soroka really broke out onto the scene in 2019 when he went 13-4 in 29 starts, posting a 2.68 ERA. He played in the All-Star Game that year.

Last season, though, Soroka was only able to make three starts in the shortened 60-game season before he suffered his unfortunate Achilles injury. Looking ahead to 2021, Soroka is back to full strength and has hopes of returning to his All-Star form, while also helping Atlanta put themselves in a position to go on a deep postseason run. If Tuesday’s appearance was a sign of things to come, then only more good days will be ahead for the Atlanta faithful.
