A Browns fans absolutely broke his kids’ hearts with an April Fools’ Day joke saying the team had traded Baker Mayfield to the Steelers.

It’s April Fools’ Day out there and no one is safe. While we’ve seen some incredible sports pranks go down, one Cleveland Browns fans decided to pull a fast one on his two young boys and he broke their hearts in the process.

Yup, Cleveland supporter Timothy Daniel may have taken things a bit too far, as he let his youngsters know that Baker Mayfield had been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. As you might have been able to guess, the two boys couldn’t believe it and were devastated.

Seriously, what in the heck was the dad thinking?! Of course this was going to make the kids feel awful. It’s one thing to say that Mayfield got traded, but to send him to AFC North rival Pittsburgh? That’s just cold.

By the end of the video, though, it was made clear that Mayfield was still a Brown. While one kid laughed, the other tossed a remote on the floor in frustration. Can you blame him? No Cleveland fan ever wants to see their franchise signal-caller traded, especially not to the Steelers.

Mayfield is coming off a strong year in 2020, as he powered the team to an 11-5 record and an AFC Wild Card Round win over Pittsburgh at Heinz Field. Come next season, he’ll look to help the Browns go even further in the postseason. For the two kids who clearly love the Browns, they won’t have to worry about him making any big-time plays for anyone else come next fall.
