Child injured by former Chiefs’ coach Britt Reid improving slowly

The 5-year-old child injured in a car accident involving former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid is slow improving in the hospital.
Ariel Young remains in the hospital, but there’s a small bit of good news.
Young, 5, was injured in a car accident which involved then-Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, son of head coach, Andy. She has remained under medical care since the incident on Feb. 4, a mere three days before Super Bowl LV.
On her family’s GoFundMe page, an update was posted March 27, which reads as follows:
"Ariel remains in the hospital, she is getting a little better each day but she still has a long road to recovery. Britt Reid is out everyday living his normal life while she cannot, please don’t let her story be forgotten. Court will take a long time and we don’t know what will be the outcome of it all. So please keep sharing her story and praying for her and the family. Thank you."

While it remains unknown whether Reid was impaired at the time of the accident, responding officers noted the now-former Chiefs coach — his contract was not renewed — saying he had multiple drinks prior to getting on the road.
Young was in a coma for several days after the accident before awakening, but is yet to recover enough to leave the hospital. Meanwhile, well-wishers have donated more than $500,000 to her GoFundMe page, attempting to help lessen the enormous financial burden of the medical care needed to take care of the child.
Here’s to hoping Young can resume a normal life in short order.
