Brewers trade Orlando Arcia to Braves in early-season deal
The Brewers are dealing shortstop Orlando Arcia to the Braves after the first weekend of the 2021 season.
The MLB season began just a few days ago and we now have our first notable deal of the 2021 season. FanSided’s Robert Murray sent out a bit of a cryptic tweet by saying the Milwaukee Brewers were trading Orlando Arcia.
Fans on Twitter thought he may be heading to San Diego. Ken Rosenthal confirmed Arcia was heading to the Atlanta Braves.
Brewers trade Orlando Arcia to Braves
Talk about a whirlwind week for Arcia. He had a walk-off hit on Opening Day and was the hero in Milwaukee. Three games later he is packing up and moving to Atlanta.

Arcia debuted with the Brewers in 2016 and never panned out to be the star they were hoping we would be. He posted a combined 2.5 WAR from 2016-2020 and has a career on-base percentage below .300. Shortstop is now Luis Urias’ job in Milwaukee.
Rosenthal went on to explain that the Braves are adding Arcia for depth, which makes sense given the talent already in town.
The shortstop is only 26 years old and a new organization, and less pressure, could turn his career around. It is still just a bit of a shock for a team to trade someone after deciding they would make the Opening Day roster just one week prior.
Arcia will now make the switch to a reserve role in Atlanta. The Braves are a team with World Series aspirations and it is possible this trade ends up being a huge one for the team in October.
