Baltimore Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini received a standing ovation on Saturday after hitting his first home run since 2019.

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini is receiving a hero’s welcome across the MLB. After missing the entire 2020 season after battling and defeating stage 3 colon cancer, Mancini made his return in front of Orioles fans at Camden Yards on Thursday to an amazing standing ovation. The applause only continued on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox.

With the Orioles trailing the Red Sox 2-0, Mancini stepped up to the plate and mashed a solo home run off pitcher Garrett Richards to right-center field to cut the deficit to one run. That home run was not only Mancini’s first of the year, but his first since 2019.

Mancini’s 427-foot home run gave the Orioles all the momentum following his home run. He was met at home plate by outfielder Anthony Santander, who followed up with a solo homer of his own in the very next at-bat to tie things up at two runs apiece.

Entering Saturday’s game, Mancini had recorded three RBI on five hits, two of which were doubles.

Mancini hit his first of what fans can expect to be many home runs. Even if you are not an Orioles fan, you can not help but cheer for Trey Mancini.
