Brandon Belt is officially on the board for the San Francisco Giants, as the first baseman crushed his first homer of the year on Sunday.

While the 2021 campaign has been a bit of a struggle for San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, the veteran player will now have plenty of confidence moving forward. Why is that, you ask?

Well, in a showdown with the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, Belt got a pitch right down the middle and he took advantage of it in a big way, smashing the ball out of the ballpark for his first home run of the season. This one truly was a no-doubter.

As you can see from the video above, Belt knew that ball was leaving play as soon as he made contact with it. When you throw that kind of a pitch to him, it’s bound to end in disaster for an opposing pitcher.

Belt nearly sent that pitch into McCovey Cove for the fans on their kayaks to go chase. Nothing beats those dingers on a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco. Nevertheless, Belt got his first homer of the year and it’s one that could not have come at a better time.

He’s currently hitting well under .200, as the start of the season really hasn’t gone as planned for Belt at all. Regardless, a blast like that could be more than enough to get him going the rest of the way. As for San Francisco, the team has looked good to start the season. We’ll see if the Giants and Belt have what it takes to make some serious noise in the NL West later this campaign.
