Stephen Curry wrote his name in the Golden State Warriors’ history books, as he became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer on Monday night.

The Golden State Warriors entered Monday night just two games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for eighth-place in the Western Conference. Besides a rise up the standings, guard Stephen Curry was on the verge of history. Curry was only 19 points behind NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain for first in the franchise’s all-team leading scorers list. As expected, that was not much of a challenge for Curry.

In the first quarter of Golden State’s game against the Denver Nuggets, Curry drove past P.J. Dozier and JaVale McGee towards the pain and made a smooth layup to bring his point total to 17,784. With that layup, Curry became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer, a record Chamberlain held since 1964.

Warriors: Stephen Curry becomes franchise’s all-time leading scorer

Sure, Chamberlain might have accomplished this feat in seven years with the Warriors organization, but Curry is a lifer with the organization. Curry was guaranteed to break the record at some point, especially with his ability to drain three-pointers with ease.

This was not the only history that Curry made this season. Back in January, Curry passed Reggie Miller for second-place on the NBA’s all-time three-pointers made list.

After watching the Minnesota Timberwolves draft point guards Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn in back-to-back picks in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Warriors selected Davidson’s Curry with the seventh-overall pick. That turned out to be a tremendous pick for the Warriors, as Curry became a seven-time All-Star and a two-time NBA MVP. Most importantly for the Warriors, the guard brought three NBA championships to the franchise.

Curry was already seen as the greatest Warriors player in history, but his feat on Monday night all but solidifies it.
