The Atlanta Braves changed up their lineup on Tuesday, and it’s paying off big time.

With 2020 NL MVP Freddie Freeman struggling to make much of an impact at the dish early this season, Brian Snitker decided to give him a change of scenery. Freeman hit in the two-hole on Tuesday night against the Miami Marlins, something he’s pretty familiar with over the course of his career. The result was runs, which the Braves are desperately in need of.

Freeman went back to the two-spot, allowing Marcell Ozuna to hit third. With the added protection of hitting behind one of the best sluggers in all of baseball, Ozuna can do what he does best — make pitchers pay for throwing around Freeman.

The Braves need their big sluggers to get going

Freeman isn’t the only Braves slugger hitting under the Mendoza line, with Ozuna and Ozzie Albies joining him in that lowly department. While Ronald Acuña has started out the season with a bang, the rest of the Braves lineup, at least in the top end, is struggling to get going.

Should the Braves wish to prove the prognosticators and PECOTA projections wrong, that isn’t the way to go about it.
