The Atlanta Braves should still be furious over the insane call on Sunday that cost them in a huge showdown with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fans all over Georgia remain furious and for good reason. That’s because the only way to describe the Atlanta Braves‘ loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday night is by a total robbery. Seriously, the Phillies were gifted a road win in Atlanta.

In case you somehow missed it, Philadelphia came away with a 7-6 win after Alex Bohm scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth. However, it’s been more than clear than Bohm never touched home plate and should have been called out. Yet, even after a replay, the call wasn’t overturned and Philadelphia went on to win. How?

Sunday’s robbery could haunt the Braves in the NL East title race this year

As of this writing, the Phillies stand at the top of the NL East standings with a 6-3 record, while the Braves have limped to a 4-6 mark. That loss on Sunday really only made things worse for Brian Snitker’s men. They went out and fought from start to finish. It was a great game for MLB fans across the country to enjoy.

Yet, for the final score to be impacted by a terrible call at the plate, which wasn’t overturned, is simply unacceptable. Imagine later in the year if the Braves lose the division title race by one game, or if it comes into play in a tiebreaker. We’re going to look back on this game for sure. This fact alone will keep folks up at night.

Home plate umpire Lance Barrett really dropped the ball here and there’s no excuse for it. We’d expect this kind of tomfoolery from Angel Hernandez, but not Barrett or any other ump out there. The Braves should feel like a win was stolen from them. This is unbelievable.
