Ryan Day has to get this top-tier prospect to commit to his Ohio State football team in 2022.

If Ryan Day wants his Ohio State football program to maintain the best recruiting class in the country, he needs to make sure four-star offensive tackle Aamil Wagner does not leave his state.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Wagner is the No. 5 player from Ohio, the No. 13 offensive tackle in 2022 and the No. 117 overall prospect in his recruiting class. The 6-foot-6 and 250-pound standout from Dayton has 30 official offers and is looking primarily at committing to one of these five Power 5 programs: Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Stanford.

If Wagner were to commit to Ohio State, four of the top five players from Ohio will have committed to playing for the Buckeyes. He would join the likes of five-star outside linebacker C.J. Hicks, four-star outside linebacker Gabe Powers and four-star cornerback Jyaire Brown. Here is a look at what Wagner could do in Buckeyes uniform should he commit to Ohio State in 2022.

Ohio State football: Will the Buckeyes land Aamil Wagner’s commitment?

Wagner will be making his first official visit to Ohio State on June 4. He has official visits lined up with Notre Dame on June 18 and Penn State on June 25 as well. Offensive line coach Greg Studrawa is serving as Wagner’s primary recruiter to Ohio State with offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Kevin Wilson serving as his secondary. Both coaches have landed many four-stars.

Though it will be tough for Ohio State to hold off Notre Dame and Penn State for Wagner’s four-star commitment, the Buckeyes are seen as his early leader. One 247Sports staffer projects that Wagner will indeed state in-state to play for Coach Day in The Horseshoe. As long as Ohio State continues to recruit at an elite level, the Buckeyes can keep contending for national titles.

Landing Wagner will not be easy, but the Buckeyes are in the early driver’s seat to get him.
