Major concern has arrived for the San Francisco Giants after starting pitcher Johnny Cueto pulled himself from Wednesday’s game with an undisclosed injury.

This is something no San Francisco Giants fan wanted to see on Wednesday afternoon. In the middle of a showdown between the Giants and Reds, starting pitcher Johnny Cueto delivered a heater for a strike, but things took a turn for the worse moments later.

Cueto was in clear discomfort after firing off his delivery and then motioned twice that he was done pitching. While it hasn’t been announced yet what exactly the injury is, Cueto removing himself from the action so quickly is awful to see.

Johnny Cueto’s injury for the San Francisco Giants is a major concern for the team

As you can see in the video above, Cueto really knew something was up with his reaction after the strike. Cueto had been dealing thus far in the action, helping San Francisco hold a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning going up against Cincinnati.

Now, however, the focus has quickly switched to Cueto’s health. While we don’t want to speculate on the severity of his injury, the fact that he was so quick to let the dugout know that he was done seems to tell us that a trip to the Injured List could be on the way for the veteran hurler.

Thus far this season, Cueto has really impressed. He entered Wednesday’s action holding a 1-0 record and 2.51 ERA in two starts. It’s been really fun to see for the Giants, as Cueto really had turned heads. Unfortunately, He’s now got an injury to deal with. It goes without saying, but San Francisco is hoping this is nothing serious and he can get back on the bump as soon as possible.
