If the New York Mets want to improve their team and stick it to the Yankees, making a trade this summer for Madison Bumgarner would surely do the trick.

After some lean years in Queens, excitement is back in full force for the New York Mets. A subway ride away, the New York Yankees are struggling a bit to start the year. We don’t have to tell you how happy Mets fans are to see this.

So, how could things get even better? Of course winning games and making a push for an NL East title would certainly do the job. However, making a run at landing a Yankees’ target before the trade deadline would also be high on the list. Enter veteran lefty Madison Bumgarner.

Trading for Madison Bumgarner this summer would be a dream move for the Mets

In recent years, it has felt like Bumgarner had been linked to a potential move to the Bronx virtually every season. This should be the case once again this year, but the Mets could beat them to the punch. Imagine the meltdown Yankees fans would have if this went down?

Bumgarner is in his second season with the Arizona Diamondbacks after he spent 11 years with the San Francisco Giants. It hasn’t been a great start to ’21 for him, as he’s 0-2 with a concerning 11.20 ERA. Last season, Bumgarner went 1-4 in nine starts with a 6.48 ERA.

Despite that, there’s no question that when he’s on his game, he can be a tremendous starter for a club. If someone is in need of an extra, experienced arm for the postseason, Bumgarner would be ready to deliver when his number is called.

This is something the Yankees are more than aware of. For the Mets, they could really show them who owns New York by landing him. If Steve Cohen has taught us anything with him as the Mets owner, it’s to never sleep on any big decisions he might be ready to make.

The 1 big source of joy for New York Mets fans so far. dark. Next
