Nick Saban needs this top prospect to commit to his Alabama football program for 2022.

If Nick Saban wants his Alabama football program to keep a viselike grip on the SEC, the Crimson Tide need to pick up the slack in recruiting and land four-star defensive tackle Khurtiss Perry.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Perry is the No. 3 player from Alabama, the No. 6 defensive tackle in his recruiting class and the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2022 cycle. The Montgomery native is 6-foot-3 and 267 pounds. He has 31 official offers, but it feels like it is coming down to two teams that will get The Yellowhammer State fired up: Alabama or Auburn.

Does Alabama have what it takes to keep Perry from signing with the rival Tigers in 2022?

Khurtiss Perry would be a home run get for Alabama football

As strange as it sounds, Alabama is getting its teeth kicked in during recruitment for this cycle. The Crimson Tide’s 2022 recruiting class ranks 19th overall and a middle-of-the-pack seventh in the SEC. Though we all know the Crimson Tide are going to make up ground eventually, it does not feel like the Tide will have the best recruiting class of all time again for 2022. They have to get it right.

While it feels neck-and-neck for Perry’s commitment between Alabama and Auburn, the only 247Sports recruiting staffer that has made a prediction on him has Perry heading to Tuscaloosa, albeit with lukewarm confidence. The reason Alabama needs Perry’s commitment is that they risk losing him to Auburn if they don’t.

While one can argue Alabama has an edge over Auburn for Perry’s commitment, it is not by much.
