Ronald Acuña proves he’s The Flash with blazing speed on run scored (Video)

Ronald Acuña shows off his power on a daily basis, but don’t forget about his blazing speed.

Acuña is also The Flash, evidently. The Cubs never saw that coming.

In Game 1 of the Braves series at Wrigley Field, Acuña somehow scored from second base on an infield single by Marcell Ozuna. While the grounder did almost find the hole between shortstop and third base, resulting in a diving attempt by Javier Baez, Acuña’s willingness to run full speed past third is a testament to his confidence in perhaps his most underrated tool.

Unlike Alec Bohm, Acuña made sure he came back and touched home after missing the bag on his first attempt. No replay was needed.

Ronald Acuña could use some help from his Braves’ friends

Entering Friday’s game in Chicago, Acuña had accumulated a 1.7fWAR, while the rest of the Braves hitters had a combined -.2 fWAR. That’s, uh, not great consistency in the Braves lineup.

Atlanta has managed to stave off a disastrous start despite the fact that many of the big bats in their lineup, including Ozuna and Freddie Freeman, have yet to really get going. Those stars are far too competent to allow such a stat to linger for long, but the Braves need them to hit more consistently, and soon.
