Georgia football star JT Daniels sure looked like a Heisman Trophy front-runner at G-Day.

For the first time in years, the Georgia football team has an elite passing quarterback in JT Daniels.

Daniels is entering his redshirt junior season out of his native California. The former USC starter transferred to Georgia last season as he was recovering from a torn ACL.

In the latter third of last season, Daniels did things from the pocket no Georgia quarterback had done since Aaron Murray. With this likely being his last year in college, Daniels balled out big time in his first and only G-Day.

By completing 28-of-41 passes for 324 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, Daniels is giving off the vibe of a serious Heisman Trophy front-runner.

Georgia football: Could JT Daniels be the Dawgs’ third Heisman winner?

Though Georgia has a great football history, the Dawgs have as many national titles as they do Heisman Trophy winners: Two. Herschel Walker was the last Georgia player to win the Heisman back in 1982.

Not since Garrison Hearst’s incredible 1992 season have the Dawgs had a serious Heisman finalist. Daniels would be the first Georgia quarterback to ever bring home the trophy.

So could Daniels do it? He does play the right position for one of the best teams in the Power 5. Georgia does not have to win every game it plays this year for him to win it, but he will have to show up in big moments during the Dawgs’ SEC season schedule.

While he could be an early front-runner for it, very rarely does the offseason Heisman winner win it when it really counts.

Even if Daniels does not win the Heisman, he gives the Dawgs a chance at starting quarterback.
