In a matchup with the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has belted two homers.

Have yourself a night, Anthony Rizzo. With the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves meeting at Wrigley Field on Sunday night, the stud first baseman has put on a show at the dish. It’s something the fans in the stands love to see.

After smashing a homer earlier in the game, Rizzo stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the sixth and decided one dinger wasn’t enough. Nope, he decided to make things even sweeter by leading the yard for the second time.

When Rizzo makes that kind of contact with the ball, forget about it. That homer seen above was no question leaving the ball park. When you throw a guy like Rizzo that kind of pitch, you’re inviting him to hit a dinger.

Rizzo, who is no question a fan favorite, entered Sunday’s showdown with one homer and two RBI on the season, while posting a .229 average. It hasn’t been the start to the new campaign he was hoping for, but his bat has woken up in a big way against Atlanta.

With his two-homer night, Rizzo’s confidence is sure to rise. This is a wonderful thing for the Chicago faithful, as they expect big things from Rizzo whenever he’s at the dish. Meanwhile for the Cubbies, the team is a disappointing 6-8 to start 2021.

Rizzo isn’t the only one who has struggled in April, as the team has had some really bad showings offensively thus far. However, things can change in the blink of an eye with this team. Rizzo is proof of that.
