Braves fans unhappy with lineup for Sunday Night Baseball vs Cubs

The latter half of the Atlanta Braves lineup is underwhelming for Sunday Night Baseball against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

To be fair, Atlanta is dealing with some injuries that makes the bottom four of their lineup rather weak. Braves fans were quick to notice this on Sunday afternoon, but also pointed to several players available in the minor leagues who would perhaps be a better fit in short stints with the big league team.

Dansby Swanson in the five-hole is fine, but a bottom three of Ehire Adrianza, Austin Riley, Guillermo Heredia and pitcher Bryse Wilson is rough.

Adrianza is playing in place of Ozzie Albies, while Heredia is receiving playing time in the wake of Ender Inciarte’s injury.

Braves fans took out their frustration in the replies to the Braves Twitter feed

The Braves do have a reputable farm system, but they haven’t deemed Drew Waters, among others, ready for the bigs. Perhaps that’s warranted when looking at the early struggles of Cristian Pache.

There were more, but the general consensus is that Brian Snitker should’ve rolled out a different version of the starting nine today. Pablo Sandoval, for one, has been far better at the dish than, say, Riley. Not to mention the Braves have constantly been mentioned in trade talks for a third baseman, hinting that they’re not satisfied with their 24-year-old at the hot corner.

Snitker is the manager for a reason, and there’s a good chance we’ll all have to eat our words.
